All of the books I’m reviewing today (8.6.2020) have to do with the idea of kindness. THE STOREKEEPER is one of my favorite picture book discoveries this year. Not only is it a great example of an author-illustrated picture book done well, but it’s also simply a lovely story with an excellent message for young readers running underneath the sweet narrative: be kind to others, because kindness is one gift that you don’t yourself lose as you gift it on to others. Kindness is the light that illuminates our sometimes tragic world. Is it the *perfect* COVID-19 read? It just might be.
