Electronics has taken over the Automobile sector by storm and with the electric future we looking at motors, microprocessors, controllers, sensors etc. For now we take a look at the speedometers sensor on the Dominar 400 which is an electronic speed sensor which uses hall effect (magnetic field) to measure the speed of the wheel (ABS wheel). The Dominar 400 gets dual channel ABS so both the front and rear wheel on the Dominar 400 gets ABS ring wheel and speed sensor. Older motorcycles had those gear wheels and bowden cables (inner and outer) to sense the speed while the mechanism on new vehicles is completely different. Bajaj has got a strong robust system on the Dominar 400 which feeds the data into the ECU and the ABS unit works accordingly. Its critical for the ABS unit to get the right data without any errors from the sensor to get the braking right (when the ABS is triggered). In this video we discuss a few common issues on this and who to easily get the speed sensor issue fixed. We discuss from points like dust/dirt deposits, damage, fuse etc to make things work. This sensor on the Dominar 400 is one amongst many sensors present on the motorcycle.
