The much-awaited SUV from Kia Motors, the Kia Sonet, has been revealed. The Kia Sonet compact SUV was first showcased as a concept at the 2020 Auto Expo in February and ever since, has been one of the most talked-about cars in India. Recently, Kia had also released the teasers of the Sonet and having seen how the production-ready model looks like, it is evident that it follows an aggressive design language and is perhaps one of the best-looking compact SUVs in India, which is set to go on sale in the upcoming festive season. The Kia Sonet, upon launch, will compete against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon and the Ford EcoSport. This is the third car that is being launched by Kia Motors in India as it comes after the very successful Seltos SUV and the Carnival MPV. The Kia Sonet Concept that was presented at the Auto Expo seemed quite close to production-ready and judging by the teasers released by Kia and the TVC, the actual car will not be too different. We already know that Kia Sonet exterior features will include LED DRLs, LED tail lights and Kia’s signature ‘tiger nose’ grille. The interiors of the Kia Sonet will feature a 10.25in touchscreen which is the same size as the Seltos and Hyundai Creta and will be the biggest in the segment by quite a margin. The Kia Sonet features list will also include UVO connected car tech, steering wheel mounted controls, drive and traction modes and ambient lighting. The air conditioning vents feature a metallic, diamond-knurled pattern and recent sketches teasing the dashboard design of the Kia Sonet reveal a digital speedo as well. Kia has confirmed the presence of six airbags for occupant safety. Aside from what has already been revealed, it will safe to assume that the Kia Sonet will get features like cruise control, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, automatic climate control, sunroof, keyless entry, push button start/stop and rear AC vents. The Kia Sonet is closely related to the Hyundai Venue and utilises the same platform and will feature the same set of engines. There will be a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol, a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol and a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel. Kia had earlier confirmed the presence of an iMT or clutch-less manual transmission as seen on the Hyundai Venue paired with the 1.0-litre turbo petrol. #kia #kiasonet #kiasonetprice #kiasonetvariant #kiasonetcolouroptions #kiasonetmileage #kiasonettopspeed
